I am honoured and delighted to take on the role of Captain of Durham City Golf Club for 2026. It is a privilege to follow on from Charlie, Kathryn, Ken and Alice, and I would like to thank them for their hard work, commitment and the excellent year they have led us through. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and to working alongside my fellow Captains, Ruth, Eric and Ben, as well as the committee, staff and volunteers who do so much for the club. My hope for 2026 is that we continue to enjoy our golf, support one another across all sections, and build on the strong sense of community that makes this club such a special place. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible on the course and around the clubhouse and wish everyone a happy, healthy and successful golfing year.
Stuart Ord
Club Captain
It is a privilege for me, as Lady Captain for 2026, to welcome you to Durham City Golf Club.
In our Ladies’ Section you will find a warm welcome, whether you want to play golf socially, competitively or, indeed, a mixture of both!
Our main competition season tales place at weekends and Thursdays from April to September but you will also find ladies playing golf socially throughout the year in almost all kinds of weather!
We will be running another Women Into Golf course starting in April this year. If you have never played golf before we would love to welcome you to this. So, whatever your golf aspirations are for 2026, a warm welcome awaits you at Durham City.
My chosen charity for the year is Macmillan Cancer Support.
